“I was in a tough spot because of Roman Reigns” – Former champion opens up about how he messed up the cash-in.

Austin Theory revealed details about his unsuccessful attempt to cash in his Money in the Bank contract during the November 7, 2022 episode of Monday Night RAW.

During his appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Theory commented on the event: “I don’t feel like there’s always a plan. To be honest, the only thing I kind of knew would happen is if you’re aware of a match that’s going to take place at a pay-per-view. If you’re on that path, like Cena for example, I knew we had done promos, so I knew we were going to have the match.”

“Honestly, a lot of things, like when I first had the United States Championship [shrugs], Money in the Bank [shrugs], the second time with the United States Championship [shrugs], you know, it’s just about seeing what happens.”

“And at the same time, with the briefcase, I was in a tough spot because of Roman Reigns, the position he was in and where they were taking him. I would have loved to cash in on Roman, even if it ended up being a failed attempt; I think it would have been cool because I would never cash in for the United States Championship.”

After the event, Austin Theory won the United States Championship at WWE Survivor Series WarGames in November 2022, in a Triple Threat Match against Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley.
