Rey Mysterio revealed why his daughter Aalyah did not pursue a wrestling career like her brother Dominik. Speaking at ComplexCon with Peter Rosenberg, the WWE Hall of Famer shared that Aalyah opted to focus on her medical studies despite her early exposure to wrestling.
“She also loves it as much as Dom did. We played wrestling a lot, but for some reason, she was more on my wife’s side,” Rey explained. “She was the one who liked to study; one of those girls [getting] A+s all the time, still to this day, always; she’s very dedicated to her education.”
The 23-year-old Aalyah briefly appeared on WWE television in 2020, featuring in a storyline with Buddy Matthews. While she gained popularity during her limited appearances, she chose to pursue her medical career instead of following the family’s wrestling tradition.

During an appearance on Cheap Heat, Rey Mysterio expressed pride in his son’s career progression. Dominik’s transformation began at Clash at the Castle 2022, when he turned on his father and joined The Judgment Day.
“Maybe I would have thought at the time that it was a little too soon, but I was completely wrong. Look at him now. Look at all the success he’s gained. Look at the confidence booster that he has, just overall his growth. As a father and as one of his fans, I enjoy watching him in the ring every time.”
