Adam Cole confronted recent criticism surrounding his renewed feud with MJF in AEW. Cole returned at WrestleDream 2024 to confront MJF after recovering from an ankle injury sustained at Dynamite: Grand Slam last year.
Speaking on The Danny Ocean Show, Cole acknowledged fan concerns while defending the storyline’s direction. “I just feel that the story that me and MJF told needs a definitive conclusion. Coming back from injury, that’s exactly what I’m hopping into. Of course, you want to make as many people happy as possible. Then sometimes too, with stories, it takes a little bit to get back to where you were because a lot of the stuff that we did was very slow-burn,” Cole said.
Cole detailed his recovery journey during an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez. “The concussion was genuinely scary. There was a real question of if I was going to be able to come back, and fortunately, I got the clearance from doctors that it was completely safe; it was fine; I was able to return. So, when this issue with the ankle happened, there was never a point where I felt like, ‘OK, I’m going to retire,’ because I knew this was something I could come back from. Now, as far as mental discouragement… it was an all-time high,” Cole revealed.
The Undisputed Kingdom leader emerged as The Devil at Worlds End PPV before MJF attacked him during his brief appearance at Double or Nothing. Their storyline continues to evolve on AEW programming, with fans anticipating how Tony Khan will develop this complex rivalry.
